Useful tips: the best neighbourhoods to stay in
The best area in which to sleep is Stuttgart-Mitte, the historic centre, which is packed with attractions, amenities and nightlife. If you are travelling with your family, however, the only area within the centre that we recommend is the area around Oberer Schlossgarten, which is greener and quieter! Alternatively, it is better to move to other districts, such as Degerloch and Bad Cannstatt, the latter of which also offers somewhat cheaper prices.
Another area for budget stays is Stuttgart-West, which is very well connected to the city centre by the efficient public transport network!
Suggested areas forsaving money: Stuttgart-West, Bad Cannstatt
Recommended areas forfamilies with children: Stuttgart-Mitte (only the area around Oberer Schlossgarten), Bad Cannstatt, Degerloch

Stuttgart Area Guide
Stuttgart is the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg, but that's not all: besides being an important economic, administrative and cultural centre, it is also Germany's sixth largest city in terms of population.
With an area of 207 square kilometres, the city is divided into 23 districts, the most important of which are, of course, the central ones: the Mitte District (Stuttgart-Mitte), the Bad Cannstatt District, the West District (Stuttgart-West) and the Degerloch District.
Areas to avoid: Stuttgart is one of the safest cities in Germany. From a tourist point of view, it is best to avoid districts that are too peripheral, so as not to waste too much time on public transport
Stuttgart-Mitte
If you are planning a trip to Stuttgart, especially if this is your first time visiting the city, the best district to stay in is Stuttgart-Mitte! This area represents the historic centre and here you will find some of the city's main attractions, such as Schlossplatz, with the Old Castle and the New Palace, the Markthalle St uttgart and the Stuttgart Opera.
This is an ideal area for everyone, but of course it is also one of the most expensive districts in the city. Here, however, you can find luxury hotels and small pensions, B&Bs and affordable hostels, the important thing is to book in good time. In addition, the Mitte district is also the hub of nightlife. If you are travelling with your family and still want to stay in the centre, head for the Oberer Schlossgarten area, which is the greenest and quietest in the district.
Several metro stations and the Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof(main train station) are located in the district, but if you stay here you will move almost exclusively on foot.
Average prices in the district range from around €45.00 for low-cost accommodation to €250.00 for high-budget solutions - compare the selection of the best accommodation on booking
